Active and inactive scenarios

There are two ways how you can work with scenarios in Integromat. Depending on what way is used, the scenarios are called active or inactive.

  • active scenarios are run periodically according to a defined schedule;
  • inactive scenarios can be executed one-time at any time you wish

You may change between the above statuses (active scenarios can become inactive and vice versa).

Scenario activation

A newly created scenario is, by default, inactive. You can activate it by clicking the ON/OFF button in the scenario detail.

Example: Connecting Instagram to Dropbox

The below example describes in detail the difference between the inactive and active status and shows how to download photos from Instagram and upload them to Dropbox.

The active (periodical) scenario suits, for example, when you want to monitor a user on Instagram on a long-term basis. Whenever, the user being watched adds a photo, Integromat will automatically download this photo and upload it to a selected Dropbox folder. Integromat will run the scenario periodically according to schedule.

The inactive scenario is handy when you want to select photos from a specific time interval and send them, for example, to another user. Clicking the Run once icon in the scenario editor will start one time execution of the scenario.
